The fig trees are ripe around Norfolk, especially the one in my backyard. We have more figs than we know what to do with and luckily there are enough for us and the birds. My wife and I tried our hand at making fig preserves for the first time and they turned out great! The next morning I made a batch of homemade biscuits and smothered on the gooey goodness. The cloves and cinnamon in the preserves reminded me of Christmas and took my mind off the 90+ degree weather we have been having lately.
My wife also got very creative and decided to make a fig cobbler. Honestly, smothering the figs in a sugary syrup and topping with some ice cream couldn't be any better! It was delish. Hope you enjoy the pics.
